Nagarkot Hiking

Nagarkot is a widely enjoyed hill resort. Located 30 km to the east of Kathmandu on the valley rim, Nagarkot is for those on the lookout for Himalayan scenery and rural serenity. Nagarkot, is situated at an elevation of 2175 m, provides the sunrise view that present you the ever-refreshing memory of the majestic Himalayas including a panorama of five of the world’s 10 tallest peaks – Everest (8848 m), Lhotse (8516 m), Makalu (8463 m) and Manaslu (8163 m) and many other lesser summits.  It has been a weekend spot for mountain viewers in quiet and comfort. On the way to Nagarkot you can observe the historic and cultural town at Sankhu. The surrounding countryside with its terraced hillsides and farm houses is great for walking. Bird watching is an activity you can enjoy in the forests here. You can take a walk from Nagarkot along a ridge to the temple of Changu Narayan  with views of Sankhu village to the right and Bhaktapur to the left. Another trail takes y ou south from Nagarkot to Nala and Banepa on the highway to the Chinese border.
